These Robbers Made My Day

Sometimes the ridiculous in Life can put you on Cloud 9 for days. Here is one such case, two robbers who have what the Sydney Morning Herald oh-so-aptly described as "the worst disguise ever".

Head on over there immediately, this is too good to be missed!

Workin' For The Man

It's now 10 years since I stopped "workin' for the man" and I have to admit, I don't know if I could ever return. Being my own boss may have few career prospects but I have to admit, I'm a lot happier than if I had stayed as part of the machine.

These 10 years have not been without stress and MANY money worries but in the end, to someone of my nature, personal satisfaction is everything and, to be honest, I never had the character to deal with the slow-witted, blinkered vision of those considered my "superiors". Deceit, professional lies etc. don't sit well with me - better leave them to those better qualified.

Workin' For The Man

The other day, I worked out that in lost wages, investments and superannuation, I may be $1 million worse off than if I had stayed but when Liberty called I had to go, there is no price on Freedom.

"I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom-boom-boom
Son, he* said:
Grab your things
I've come to take you home"

Peter Gabriel: Solsbury Hill

Yes, I came home.

* An eagle, symbolizing Freedom, referred to earlier in the song.

Pulp Fiction Meets Google Wave

As I've mentioned before, I'm up to my eyeballs in research into web 2.0 and its applications. One extremely important part of that work is seeing what Google Wave will become.

This very cool video, using an audio soundtrack of a scene from Pulp Fiction, will give you some idea of Google Wave's awesome capabilities - and that's just the beginning.

Pulp Fiction Meets Google Wave

So, as you can see, in the Google Wave "conversations", you will be able to embed pictures, videos etc. I'm sure that this will become more sophisticated in time but right now it's really whizz-bang fabulous!

A Magnificent Folly

One of the thrills I've had over the years is stumbling across some nutter's
folly and wondering "why" and "how" - and perhaps even other questions.

However, while hardly up there with the true follies, Adrian Reeman's transformation of his (and his wife's) two bedroom council flat into a replica of The Palace of Versailles is, nevertheless, still magnificent.

The Daily Mail reports that the former Merchant Navy chef created it all from what folks were throwing out or selling for virtually nothing.

C'est magnifique!

The Real Paris - Make The Girl Dance: Baby Baby

So there I was, just wondering what the real Paris looked like - not the tourist brochure Paris - but the real Paris, when what should happen but I stumble upon this video from French (I believe) Electronica band Make The Girl Dance.

Make The Girl Dance: Baby Baby

Hmm. Not the Paris I expected. Still, I've booked my flight. Of course, you should also see the parody, Sexy Sexy.

"Appalled" Of Coledale

Perusing the daily news there are all sort of terrible things going on in the world but strangely, it's often the smaller incidents that break through the emotional fatigue and make me say:

I've had enough!

England's middle class tabloid The Daily Mail reported on a 19 year old mum who burned her infant child's back 3 times (yes, there are pictures!) with a cigarette because the mum was feeling "stressed".

Aaaaah!

"Appalled" of Coledale.

The Social Media Explosion

There's a lot going on chez-Andrew where the Social Media experiment that I've been working on starts to pick up speed. [In case you don't know, I've been hired as an "adviser" for Madame X (my paramour)'s stab at creating a new web portal for women].

I shan't bore you with too many details but her market research has established the niche and my job is to infuse her ideas with the power of social media:
  • Youtube
  • Facebook
  • Digg
  • (perhaps) Twitter
  • Google Wave (coming soon) etc.
It's pretty interesting, researching everything but this blog has suffered - with me being too busy to be outraged about anything to write much. Still, if the portal works, I shall receive suitable recompense and the cyber-drinks will be on me.

Meanwhile, main commentator to this blog, Somnambulistic Ramblings, is also so involved in his portal, Project Dennis, part of his A Tiger In Africa "concept", that he also seems to have dropped out of the blogosphere.

Will the two projects ever see the light of day?

Jolly exciting, isn't it, chaps?

Might have to drop a crate of cabbages on jerry as a celebration if we get through it all. (see: Banter)

Huh?
